Twenty years ago East Nashville was referred to as "the wrong side of the river" by many city residents. It faced a host of issues. In 1998 the area was devastated by a tornado. The storm kicked off a process that has led to an urban transformation over the last 2 decades, and East Nashville is now celebrated as one of the hippest neighborhoods in the country.
