RE:Discover east!

The East Nashville Story

Published August, 2017

We used to have police who would come here and - if somebody reported a theft - they would say, ‘What do you expect if you live in East Nashville?’

Nashville forgot about its east side a long time ago.

In fact, throughout the 1970s and 80s, many residents of the more affluent west side had never stepped foot in the historic neighborhoods east of the Cumberland River. But today, East Nashville is home to some of the hottest urban neighborhoods in the country, with top-notch restaurants, bustling nightlife, and a recording studio owned by Jack White.

RE:Discover East! isn't the story of an urban design genius who heroically resuscitates East Nashville. It's a case study in how architects can empower neighbors to design their own futures - and achieve incredible results.
